Jesus Heals at Peter’s House (Mark 1:29-34)
As soon as Jesus and His companions had left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever, and they promptly told Jesus about her. So He went to her, took her by the hand, and helped her up. The fever left her, and she began to serve them.
That evening, after sunset, people brought to Jesus all who were sick and demon-possessed, and the whole town gathered at the door. And He healed many who were ill with various diseases and drove out many demons. But He would not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
* The worldview Jesus held was a world in conflict. There is evil at work and He came to undo it. We must see the world the same way if we are to be effective.

The Conflict is Real, Part 1 (Mark 1:21-28)
They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.
Suddenly a man with an unclean spirit cried out in the synagogue: “What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.
The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.
* The worldview Jesus held was a world in conflict. There is evil at work and He came to undo it. We must see the world the same way if we are to be effective.

The First Disciples
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” And at once they left their nets and followed Him.
Going on a little farther, He saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat, mending their nets. Immediately Jesus called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed Him. (Mark 1:16-20)

After the arrest of John, Jesus went into Galilee and proclaimed the gospel of God. “The time is fulfilled,” He said, “and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel!” (Mark 1:14-15)

Why Pray? (Luke 6:12-30, Romans 12:12)
Jesus regularly drew away to secluded places to pray and spend time in The Father's presence. Jesus found this connection vital to carrying out His mission on Earth. Jesus is our example, and if we are to rise above life's circumstances and be the over-comers that He calls us to be, it is vital that we cultivate our prayer life and spend quality time with Him.
Without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
