A reflection on cultivating a worshipful heart, inspired by Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman in John 4. This message reveals what it means to worship in spirit and in truth, reminding us that true worship isn’t confined to places or rituals but flows from a living relationship with God. As we come to know Him more deeply, our hearts are transformed, and our worship becomes authentic and life-giving.

In this sermon from 1 Kings, we explore how God speaks — through creation, Scripture, and personally to each of us. Using Elijah’s encounter with God on Mount Carmel and in the cave, we learn that God’s voice is often gentle, like a “still small voice.” The message encourages listeners to quiet their hearts, recognize barriers like busyness or self-criticism, and intentionally make space to hear and follow God’s loving, life-giving words.

A reflection on the Garden of Gethsemane — the moment when Jesus faced His deepest anguish before the crucifixion. The message invites listeners to imagine the scene, feel the spiritual weight of that night, and understand the meaning of Jesus’ surrender to the Father’s will. It also connects this moment to Communion, where the bread and the cup symbolize His obedience and sacrifice, calling us to respond in faith and trust: “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

In this sermon, Pastor Mike reflects on the moment when Jesus meets Levi, the tax collector rejected by society and considered spiritually unclean. He highlights how Jesus does not demand Levi to change first, but simply calls him with the words, “Follow me.” The message shows that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace, and that Jesus seeks out those who feel excluded. The Day of Pentecost
And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent, rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)

The Ingathering
About three thousand souls were added to their number, and they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. And everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions, and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. (Acts 2:42-47)

The Leper’s Prayer 
Then a leper came to Jesus, begging on his knees: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him, and the man was cleansed.

Jesus promptly sent him away with a stern warning: “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” But the man went out and openly began to proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him from every quarter. (Mark 1:40-45)

 The tick-tock pattern of Jesus, from intimacy to ministry and back again.  

Waterfall Prayer
Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and slipped out to a solitary place to pray. Simon and his companions went to look for Him, and when they found Him, they said, “Everyone is looking for You!”

But Jesus answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns so I can preach there as well, for that is why I have come.” So He went throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. Mark 1:35-39

  The tick-tock pattern of Jesus, from intimacy to ministry and back again.  

Jesus Heals at Peter’s House  (Mark 1:29-34)
As soon as Jesus and His companions had left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever, and they promptly told Jesus about her. So He went to her, took her by the hand, and helped her up. The fever left her, and she began to serve them.

That evening, after sunset, people brought to Jesus all who were sick and demon-possessed, and the whole town gathered at the door. And He healed many who were ill with various diseases and drove out many demons. But He would not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.

* The worldview Jesus held was a world in conflict. There is evil at work and He came to undo it. We must see the world the same way if we are to be effective.

The Conflict is Real, Part 1   (Mark 1:21-28) 

They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. 

Suddenly a man with an unclean spirit cried out in the synagogue: “What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”  “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.
